ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Bram Stoker

Abraham ('Bram') Stoker was born on November 8, 1847 in Ireland and was a novelist and short story writer. He married Florence Balcombe in 1878, a beauty who had also been coveted by Oscar Wilde; two years later they had a son. His circle of friends included Oscar Wilde, William Butler Yeats, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and his literary idol was Walt Whitman, whom he met.
His first book of fiction, Under the Sunset, it was published in 1881. In addition to DraculaStoker wrote eighteen books and countless short stories before his death in 1912.
To date, more than 1000 novels and 200 films have been conceived with the figure of Count Dracula as inspiration.
