ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Jorge Branco

Jorge Branco was born in the village of Comenda, municipality of Gavião, district of Portalegre, on November 22, 1953. He lived and studied in this vast area until 1973, the year he enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine in Lisbon, graduating in 1980. He is a specialist in General and Family Medicine. As a family doctor, he worked in Almada, Barreiro, Santo André (Quinta da Lomba), and Sacavém. He is a trainer in the area of ​​general and family medicine for the Order of Physicians. He is also a hydrologist.
Despite living in the Lisbon region since 1973, he has never neglected his roots in Comenda, where he has always had a home and visits regularly, interacting with residents and those from the diaspora. Besides writing, he enjoys tending to his gardens in the village. Although he has written articles for some periodicals, quite irregularly, aside from his (still dormant) poetic phase during adolescence, it was only in 2012 that he resumed his passion for writing more consistently.
