ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Carlos Leone
Carlos Leone (born 1973) published his first book in 1999 ("Ten Reviews», Hummingbird, Lisbon). Since 2004, he has published regularly in INCM, both his own works and studies relating to Portuguese authors of the 19th and 20th centuries.
His most extensive work, based on his doctoral thesis in the History of Ideas, is the study on critical discourse "Portugal Extemporâneo" (2 vols., INCM, 2005). On his current research topic, he has also published "The Essentials on Foreigners in the 20th Century» (INCM( , 2005), dedicating himself since then to the study of "foreigners," which has already taken him to the universities of Brown, Cambridge, Rutgers-Newark, and several other institutions. He also directs the cultural magazine "Press» (INCM, Lisbon, quarterly). Organized, with Manuela Rêgo, the collective volume «Freedom without Dogma. A tribute to Sottomayor Cardia.», published by India ink in 2007. In 2008 he also published in India ink, his study on foreigners and, simultaneously with the essay «Did Socialism Never Exist?», he also published in INCM «The Essentials of Democracy».
