ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sarah Kane

Nasceu em Londres a 3 de Fevereiro de 1971, filha de pais jornalistas. BLASTED, a sua primeira peça, estreou em Janeiro de 1995 (no Royal Court Theatre) numa encenação de James Macdonald, PHAEDRA'S LOVE seria a segunda, encomendada pelo Gate Theatre e estreada em Maio em 1996 numa encenação da própria Sarah Kane. Seguiu-se CLEANSED, dirigida por James Macdonald em Abril de 1998 e Crave em Agosto do mesmo ano, escrita sob o pseudónimo Marie Kelvedon e dirigida no teatro Paines Plough por Vicky Featherstone. Encenou, além disso, o WOYZECK de Georg Büchner. Morreu em Londres a 20 de Fevereiro de 1999. Em Julho de 2000 estreou-se 4.48 PSYCHOSIS (no Royal Court) encenada por James Macdonald. Escreveu um argumento para televisão, SKIN (Channel Four/British Screen). A sua obra tem interessado recentemente os mais diversos encenadores, como Peter Zadek, Bernard Sobel, Jean-Marie Patte, Barbara Nativi e Thomas Ostermeier.
