Blind Tom, The Black Pianist

This work investigates the tangled issues of race, racism and stereotypes that pockmarked America after the Civil War. Blind Tom, born into slavery in 1849, was a musician of amazing skill but who, along with other black performers, had to cope with racism and (in his case) disability.
