ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Anthony Browne

Anthony Browne (Sheffield, England, 1946): He gained his artistic training in Leeds College of Art He specialized in graphic design. His perfectionist zeal for representing the human figure stemmed from the influence of one of his early jobs, as a medical illustrator in a Manchester hospital. His dedication to children's illustration, however, came later, as a designer of greeting cards. Born from his great interest in surrealist painters and dreamlike scenes, he developed a distinctive and easily recognizable style through the introduction of unusual elements in his illustrations. Among the awards he received throughout his career is the Medal... Kate Greenaway and the Prize Kurt Maschler, with particular emphasis, in 2000, on the Prize Hans Christian Andersen For his body of work, he received a distinction that had not been granted to any Briton since 1956. He is one of the most prestigious English authors for his contribution to the development of new ways of reading, seeing, and relating to visual language. This is demonstrated by titles such as "The Little Pigs Book", "Billy's concerns", "How are you feeling?", "A walk in the park" and "Through the forest", all published by KALANDRAKA. Specialized critics praise the fact that it has conceived a universe full of cultural and artistic references, visual clues, and keys that enhance the reader's intelligence – regardless of their age – to complement and interpret the text.
