ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Mário Máximo

Mário Máximo was born on September 19, 1956, in Lisbon. His life was divided between Olival Basto (until the age of seven), Lisbon (until the age of thirty-five), and Odivelas, where he has resided for over a decade. From a young age, he was involved with literature and literary creativity, and newspapers published many of his poems, as well as his short stories and chronicles. Screenwriting for television has also been one of his occupations. In 1986, he published his first book: a collection of poems. Since then, five more books of poems and a novel have followed. In 1999, the Institute of Libraries and Books awarded him a Literary Creation Grant for his poetry project, *Oração Pagã* (Pagan Prayer).
