Nasceu em Queensland, Austrália. Concluiu um programa de formação de dois anos em 1975 que exigia o domínio de construção residencial, de prédios altos, ornamental, de arco e igreja, e comercial. Recebeu o título de Aprendiz do Ano em 1975 e, ao concluir o programa, começou o seu próprio negócio, que continua até hoje.
