"A Gathering of Shadows" suffers from Second Book in a Trilogy Syndrome. There’s a huge dip in quality compared to the first one, but I hope it recovers by the third. Most of the book is filler that could be cut without harming the rest. When it does get to the actual story, it’s as captivating and exciting as the previous book. It’s a little annoying but worth the wait.
