ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Richard Dawkins

Charles Simonyi was the Public Understanding of Science Professor at the University of Oxford between 1995 and 2008. Born in Nairobi to British parents, he was educated at Oxford, where he earned his doctorate under the supervision of British zoologist Nikolaas Tinbergen, Nobel Prize winner in Physiology or Medicine in 1973. He taught at Berkeley and Oxford before becoming the first holder of the Simonyi Chair.
THE Selfish Gene It propelled Richard Dawkins to fame and remains his most widely read and well-known work to this day. A vast array of highly successful books followed, some of which Gradiva published. Climbing the Improbable Mountain, Deconstructing the Rainbow and The Blind Watchmaker.
Richard Dawkins is a member of Royal Society and from Royal Society of LiteratureHe has received numerous distinctions and awards, including the Prize of Royal Society of Literature (1987), the Prize Los Angeles Times Literary (1987), the Prize Michael Faraday from the Royal Society (1990), the Prize Nakayama for the Humanities (1994), the Prize Cosmos International for Achievement in the Humanities (1997), the Prize Kistler (2001), the Prize Shakespeare (2005), the Prize Lewis Thomas for Writing About Science (2006) and the Prize Nierenberg Prize for Science in the Public Interest (2009).
