ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Pascal Bruckner

Pascal Bruckner is a French philosopher and essayist, born in 1948. An analyst of impactful themes in the daily lives of societies, he was part of the so-called "New Philosophers" group, along with Alain Finkielkraut, Bernard-Henri Lévy, and André Glucksmann, among others. This group, "children of May 1968," attacked Marxism, structuralism, and left-wing and right-wing totalitarianisms at a time when revolutionary utopias still ignited the imagination of students and intellectuals willing to change the world. Pascal Bruckner is the author of, among others, the books *La tentation de l’innocence* (Médicis Essay Prize), *Les voleus de beauté* (Renaudot Prize), *Misère de la prosperité* (Best Economics Book Prize and Aujourd’hui Prize), and *Le fanatisme de l’Apocalypse* (Risques Prize). His work has been translated into approximately thirty languages.
