ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Allen Ginsberg
Allen Ginsberg nasceu a 3 de junho de 1926 em Paterson, Nova Jérsia. Foi um dos poetas norte-americanos de maior prestígio da segunda metade do século XX, como um dos principais impulsionadores da geração beat, juntamente com Kerouac, Burroughs, Corso, Ferlinghetti e Snyder.
Era filho de uma emigrante russa, Naomi, e de Louis Ginsberg, poeta e professor. A estes dados biográficos, Ginsberg acrescenta:
«Liceu em Paterson até aos 17, Universidade de Columbia, marinha mercante, Texas e Denver, tarefas em jornal, Times Square, amigos presos, lavar de pratos, crítica literária, Cidade do México, prospeção de marcado, Satori em Harlem, Iucatão e Chiapas 1954, três anos na Costa Oeste. Mais tarde: Viagem pelo Ártico, Tânger, Veneza, Amsterdão, Paris, leituras em Oxford, Harvard, Columbia e Chicago, desistir, escrever Kaddish 1959, fazer uma cassete para deixar como memória, refugiar-me um pouco no Oriente.»
Allen Ginsberg morreu a 5 de abril de 1997.
