Maximilien Robespierre

Maximilien François Marie Isidore de Robespierre (1758-1794) foi um advogado e político francês, e uma das personalidades mais importantes da Revolução Francesa.
Na sequência da sua prática como advogado em Arras, sua terra natal, em Abril de 1789 tornou-se deputado pelo Terceiro Estado, em representação da sua terra natal.
Orador exímio, começava aqui a sua carreira política fulgurante.
Aderiu ao clube dos Jacobinos, a facção mais radical da revolução, votou a execução de Luís XVI, e em 1793 criou o Comité de Salvação Pública, que deu início ao período de Terror.
Foi guilhotinado em 1794, pelos seus inimigos.
