ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Monja Coen

Monja Coen is the first founder of the Zendo Brasil Zen Buddhist Community, created in 2001, based in the Pacaembu neighborhood of São Paulo. He had his first contact with Zen Buddhism at the Zen Center in Los Angeles, where he took his monastic vows in 1983. She remained for eight years at the Women's Monastery of Nagoya, Japan, where she graduated as a special nun, qualified to teach Buddhism classes to monks and lay people. Under the guidance of Shundô Aoyama Dôchô Rôshi, her training master, she was the first leading nun of the monastery. In his community, based at the Taikozan Tenzui Zenji Temple, he maintains regular activities, such as courses, liturgies, retreats, lectures, among others. She is currently one of the main personalities in the country, assuming a position as a pop thinker. She is the author of the bestsellers Zen for the Distracted and The Wisdom of Transformation.
