But the battle will take Elena, Stefan, and Damon to their darkest moments yet…

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

L. J. Smith

Lisa Jane Smith, whose works are a combination of the genres of horror, science fiction, fantasy, and romance, gained public recognition with the Vampire Chronicles series, whose first volume is Awakening. Published in the 90s and becoming a reference in young adult horror literature, it revisits the classic theme of the struggle between Light and Shadow, from her beloved C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien. In the author's words, "I wanted to write books like theirs, where Good confronts Evil and wins. I wanted to be Frodo, terrified in Mordor, aware that the Evil he faces is much greater and more powerful than him, and yet he is able to gather the courage necessary to try and become a hero. I wanted to convey to young people that they should not give up hope."
