John has directly participated in or witnessed some of the most dramatic events in modern history, including the Saudi Arabian money laundering case, the rise and fall of the Shah of Iran, the suspicious deaths of Ecuadorian President Jaime Roldós and Omar Torrijos of Panama, the U.S. invasion of Panama, and the actions that resulted in the 2003 Iraq War. After leaving these roles, he founded Independent Power Systems, Inc., an alternative energy company. Under his leadership, the company was extremely successful in a high-risk business. Many "coincidences" and favors from people in positions of power helped make it a leading industry. When he began writing about his past and the jackals who foment coups and murders, his life and that of his youngest daughter were threatened.
