ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Jesús Díaz

Nasceu em Havana, em 1941, e é um dos mais conceituados romancistas hispano-americanos de hoje. Cineasta e escritor, vive exilado em Madrid, onde fundou e dirige a revista Encuentro, um espaço democrático onde são publicados autores cubanos , estejam na ilha ou no exílio.
Foi professor na Universidade de Havana, na Academia de Cinema de Berlim, na Escola de Letras de Madrid e no programa Sources para el desarrollo del guión de cine en Europa. Em Cuba fundou e dirigiu a revista cultural El Caimán Barbudo e foi co-editor da revista de ciências sociais Pensamiento Crítico. Publicou, entre outros livros, o volume de relatos Los Años Duros (Havana, 1966) e as novelas Las Iniciales de la Tierra (Madrid, 1987), Las Palabras Perdidas (Barcelona, 1992) e La Piel y la Máscara (Barcelona, 1996).
Os seus livros estão traduzidos para alemão, francês, inglês, sueco, holandês, grego e russo.
