ABOUT THE AUTHOR

John Stott

Considered one of the most expressive voices of the contemporary Evangelical Church, the Englishman John Stott was born on April 27, 1921. He was an agnostic until 1939, when he heard a message from Reverend Eric Nash and converted to Evangelical Christianity.

He studied Modern Languages at Trinity College, Cambridge. He was ordained in the Anglican Church in 1945, and began his ministry at All Souls Church in Langham Place. He remained there until becoming pastor emeritus in 1975. He was a chaplain to the British Crown from 1959 to 1991.

Stott became even more well-known after the Lausanne Congress in 1974, when he stood out in defending the concept of the Integral Gospel – a broader Christian approach encompassing the promotion of the Kingdom of God not only in the spiritual dimension, but also in the transformation of society based on Christian ethics and values.

In 1982, he founded the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity, of which he is now honorary president. He has written about 40 books, including Listen to the Spirit, Listen to the World (ABU), The Cross of Christ (Vida), and Why I Am a Christian (Ultimato).
