Alexandre Dumas

Alexandre Dumas foi um romancista e dramaturgo francês, autor dos livros Os Três Mosqueteiros e O Conde de Monte Cristo, clássicos do romance de capa e espada de grande aceitação popular.
Alexandre Davy de la Pailleterie Dumas, conhecido como Alexandre Dumas, nasceu em Villers-Cotterêts, Aisne, França, no dia 24 de julho de 1802.
Em 1818, passando por dificuldades financeiras, trabalhou num cartório da cidade. Conheceu Adolphe von Leuven, nobre sueco refugiado em França. Em 1821, junto com o amigo Leuven, escreveu a peça O Major de Strasburgo.
Em 1823, foi morar em Paris. Em busca de emprego foi recebido pelo General Foy, amigo de seu pai, que ao ver a sua bela caligrafia concluiu que Dumas poderia secretariar o Duque de Orléans, futuro rei Luís Filipe. O emprego garantiu-lhe o sustento e abriu-lhe o caminho para a Comédie Française.
