Quince Melville has survived his introduction to the Revolutionary War, though a limb lighter. In this second book in the trilogy, he has become a hardened warrior capable of vicious soldiering under the harshest conditions; in his continued amorous soldiering, not quite so vicious. As the war nears its conclusion, to the delight of the colonists, a new enemy emerges, crueler than the redcoats and their allies. Things will not become appreciably better.
