ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Beatrix Potter

Helen Beatrix Potter was born in London on July 28, 1866, into a family of the English upper bourgeoisie. Educated according to the strict conventions of Victorian society, she did not attend school, having been instructed at home by tutors. However, he received a careful education, learning Painting and Natural History, subjects that proved to be decisive in his career.
Passionate about nature and animals, Beatrix Potter was inspired by a pet rabbit to write and illustrate her first children's book. Published in 1902, The Tale of Pedrito Coelho soon became a phenomenon of popularity, becoming one of the great classics of children's literature of the twentieth century.
Over nearly three decades, Potter published 23 short picture books.
