Melinda Getz cresceu em São José, Califórnia. Depois de se formar em Literatura Inglesa, mudou-se para Manhattan, onde começou a trabalhar como escritora e guionista. É coautora da série Roswell High, que está na base do conhecido programa televisivo Roswell. Foi nomeada para os Edgar Awards pela sua série de mistério Wright and Wong. Vive atualmente na Carolina do Norte.
