ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sarah Waters

Nasceu no País de Gales em 1966 e é doutorada em Literatura Inglesa. Em 1998 recebeu o prémio New London Writers. Em 2000 recebeu o prémio do Sunday Times para jovens escritores e o prémio Somerset Maugham, ambos por Af inidade. O romance Falsas Aparências foi ainda finalista do Booker Prize. Foi considerada pela prestigiada revista Granta uma das 20 jovens escritoras britânicas mais promissoras.
Venceu o Betty Trask Award, o Somerset Maugham Award e esteve duas vezes entre os finalistas do prémio Mail on Sunday/John Llewellyn Rhys Prize. As suas obras Falsas Aparências e O Vigi lante foram ambas finalistas do Man Booker Prize e do Orange Prize, tendo Falsas Aparências conquistado também o CWA Ellis Peters Dagger Award para Romances Históricos Policiais e o South Bank Show Award para Literatura. As obras Toque de Veludo, Afinidade e Falsas Aparências foram adaptadas para televisão. Vive em Londres.
