ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Amos Oz

Amos Oz (1939-2018) is the best-known and most widely read Israeli writer in the world. Born in Jerusalem, he lived the last years of his life in Tel Aviv. He dedicated himself to activism for peace between Palestinians and Israelis, was a professor of literature at Ben-Gurion University in the Negev desert, and a member of the Academy of the Hebrew Language. His books have received the most important international distinctions, including the Nobel Prize. Female (1988), the Peace Prize of the German Booksellers (1992), the Israel Prize for Literature (1998), the Prize Goethe (2005), the Prize Grinzane Cavour (2007), the Prince of Asturias Award (2007), the Award Franz Kafka (2013), the Prize Pak Kyongni (Korea, 2015) and the Prize Bottari Lattes Grinzane (Italy, 2016). Judas, his latest novel, was awarded the International Literature Prize – House of World Cultures 2015 (Germany).
