This novel reveals how Rahab, who started out life in relative decency, ended up coming to America and turned into a poor chicken that desired the society of others, yet found herself bringing together a flock of sinners for the sake of carnal survival. Instead of laying eggs like most women, she ended up raising young hellions. Rahab, as a result, dominated the sex industry of America's most famous city, always mindful of the pecking order, caring only for food access and perverted nesting locations. There were times when either she or the police would remove hens or roosters from the flock, causing a temporary disruption to her social order - but it would not be long until a new pecking order was established. Then the day came when her spiritual cock crowed, and like Peter of old, she could no longer add hens to her adulterous flock, and all she was left with was a heart ready for mercy, instead of further fighting within herself and contributing to the injuries of others.
