Years later, estranged from Jeronimo after being taken from the village in mysterious circumstances, Filipa is a successful businesswoman in the city. Her memories of growing up in Serrano and her friendship with the madwoman become increasingly vivid. When the madwoman''s warnings come true and Serrano''s sheltered existence is threatened by plans to build a dam, Jeronimo heads for the city himself. Will he and Filipa finally be reunited?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dina Salústio

Nascida em Cabo Verde, na Ilha de Santo Antão, Dina Salústio foi Professora Primária, Assistente Social e Jornalista, exercendo em Portugal, Angola e Cabo Verde.
Sócia fundadora da Associação dos Escritores Cabo-verdianos, da Sociedade Cabo-verdiana de Autores, membro-fundador da Academia Cabo-verdiana de Letras e do PEN Clube de Cabo Verde, é ainda membro da Academia Sergipana de Letras (Brasil) e Vice-Presidente da Sociedade Brasileira da Cultura Latina para Cabo Verde.
Foi galardoada, dentre outros, com o 1º Prémio de literatura infantojuvenil de Cabo Verde (1994), o Prémio em literatura infantojuvenil dos Países Africanos de Língua Oficial Portuguesa (2000), Prémio Rosalia de Castro para a Literatura em Língua Portuguesa - PEN Galiza, Espanha (2016), Prémio RDP África Literatura para a Lusofonia (2021).
Autora de vários livros de contos, crónicas, romance, infantojuvenil e ensaio, publicou pela Rosa de Porcelana Veromar (2019) e Uma menina de cristal e outras crónicas (2023). Ora se faz presente a reedição do seu emblemático romance A Louca de Serrano, cuja tradução foi laureada com o PEN Award England (2018).
