ABOUT THE AUTHOR

H. D. F. Kitto

H. D. F. Kitto (1897-1982) nasceu em Inglaterra nos finais da era Vitoriana. Frequentou a Crypt Grammar School e o St. John's College, de Cambridge. Durante os estudos foi aliciado por um professor obstinado a cursar Filologia Clássica e ficou-lhe grato para sempre. Continuou a sua formação como assistente de Grego na Universidade de Glasgow, de 1920 a 1944, até ser nomeado professor de Grego da Universidade de Bristol. Jubilou-se em 1962 enquanto um dos maiores especialistas em tragédia grega do século XX.
