ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Cas Mudde

Cas Mudde nasceu em 1967, nos Países Baixos. É professor de Relações Internacionais da Universidade da Geórgia e professor do Centro de Investigação sobre o Extremismo (C-REX) da Universidade de Oslo. Especializou-se em Extremismo Político na Europa e nos Estados Unidos da América, sendo hoje o principal especialista em movimentos populistas.
É cofundador do Grupo Permanente sobre Extremismo e Democracia do European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) e membro da International Political Science Association (IPSA).
Colabora regularmente com publicações académicas e com o jornal The Guardian US. É autor de diversas obras, entre as quais Populismo - Uma Brevíssima Introdução (em coautoria com Cristbal Rovira Kaltwasser); On Extremism and Democracy in Europe; Youth and the Extreme Right; Populism in Europe and the Americas: Threat or Corrective for Democracy?; Populist Radical Parties in Europe.
Recebeu, entre outras distinções, o prémio Stein Rokkan de Investigação Comparada em Ciências Sociais, em 2008.
