J. Sheridan Le Fanu

Joseph Thomas Sheridan Le Fanu, escritor irlandês, nasceu em Dublin a 28 de Agosto de 1814. Estudou Direito no Trinity College, onde foi eleito auditor da College Historical Society. Em 1838, a sua primeira história, «The Ghost and the Bone- Setter», foi publicada no Dublin University Magazine, de que se viria a tornar editor e proprietário em 1861. Experimentou diversos géneros de escrita mas ficou mais conhecido pelas histórias de horror e mistério. Carmilla foi publicada em 1872. Morreu em Dublin a 7 de Fevereiro de 1873. Hoje existe uma rua em Ballyfermot, subúrbio de Dublin, com o seu nome.
