Amanda Smyth nasceu em Trindade, mas tem origens irlandesas e portuguesas. Concluiu o mestrado em Escrita Criativa na UEA, em 2000. Os seus contos têm sido publicados na New Writing e na London Magazine, para além de transmitidos na Radio 4. Amanda Smyth recebeu uma bolsa do Arts Council para a escrita de Onde Crescem Limas não Nascem Laranjas.
