Jonathan is a shadow elf, the last of his kind. Although his skills in battle are unmatched, he lives a solitary existence, reared by many and forbidden to marry or have children, thanks to the evil his uncle has brought upon this world time and time again. However, none of that matters now. The horde has been awakened, and Jonathan must use all his skills and magic to stop it from killing every living thing, no matter the cost. When the young dwarf Braygan begins his quest to both warn and call to arms the surface dwellers, he has to assemble a somewhat misfit team of dwarves led by a human ranger. Together they must navigate the deteriorating political situation of the surface dwellers and convince them to honor their ancestors' oaths. For if they don't, the very world will be plunged into darkness.
