Well known in Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, the USA and Portugal, she is often compared to Agatha Christie, establishing herself as one of the best writers of detective novels, with the series starring Commissioner Guido Brunetti. The American writer has been standing out worldwide as one of the most important authors of the contemporary crime scene, and her works have successively remained on the bestseller lists around the world. As a general rule in her works, the writer offers readers peculiar characters, among whom are sympathetic victims deserving of compassion, kind murderers who do not deserve any punishment and criminals so wicked that they will never be punished. Leon has lived and taught English in Switzerland, Iran, China and Saudi Arabia. She is currently a professor of English Literature at a university near the city of Venice, where she lives.
