Licenciada em Medicina pela Universidade do Porto, é Medica de Medicina Geral e Familiar no Porto. Mestre em Gerontologia Social Aplicada pela Universidade de Barcelona.
Doutorada em Saúde Comunitária pelo ICBAS.
Possui duas pós-graduações em Geriata e Gerontologia respetivamente pela UAL e pelo ISPA. Coordenadora da RECI (Research Unit in Education and Community Intervention) Piaget está envolvida em alguns projetos de investigação, nacionais e internacionais, nomeadamente na área da Gerontologia/ Geriatria (ex. fragilidade, solidão e violência). Possui numerosas publicações e comunicações de cariz nacional e internacional.
