Yuka Nagate cresceu em Chiba, no Japão. De 2003 a 2006, ensinou mangá a estudantes de Nova Iorque, antes de deixar os EUA por falta de visto. Em 2007, conseguiu publicar uma das suas obras na revista antológica Comic Bunch, especializada em mangá seinen (mangá tendencialmente dirigido para uma audiência mais adulta e primariamente masculina). É-lhe proposto um spin-off da saga Hokuto no Ken (o célebre Fist of the North Star) de Tetsuo Hara e Buronson: A Lenda de Toki (Hokuto no Ken Toki Gaiden). Em 2011, publica Butterfly Beast, uma saga em dois volumes, e posteriormente criou uma segunda "temporada" de Butterfly Beast, com mais cinco volumes. Em 2015, iniciou a série longa Gift Plus Minus que, entretanto, será adaptada para Anime.
