PRÉMIO NOBEL DA LITERATURA 1924

Romancista polaco (1867-1925) galardoado com o Prémio Nobel da Literatura em 1924. Tentou conciliar um certo Naturalismo com a tradição da prosa épica em romances como Ziemia obiecana ( A Terra Prometida , 1899) e Chlopi ( Os Camponeses , 1902-1909), uma obra em quatro volumes que retrata o mundo rural durante as quatro estações do ano.
