William Finnegan é jornalista da revista The New Yorker e repórter de guerra. Tem dedicado a carreira a temas como o racismo, os conflitos na África do Sul ou a pobreza entre os jovens norte-americanos. Foi finalista por duas vezes do National Magazine Award e ganhou inúmeros prémios de jornalismo. É bastante conhecido por escrever sobre surf, tendo ganhado um Pulitzer, em 2016, com Dias Bárbaros.
