Will Eisner

Will Eisner, who died on January 3, 2005, "possessed an astonishing understanding of the human condition and the soul of a true fighter," according to Paul E. Fitzgerald of the journal. The SpiritEisner launched the genre of graphic novel with the publication of the seminal Contract With GodIn 1978, the most important annual awards in the comic book industry were named "The Eisners" in his honor.
