Annette Wendland trabalhou durante treze anos em hotéis, desenvolvendo uma carreira internacional. Mais tarde, decidiu mudar de profissão e tirou uma licenciatura em Fotografia no London College of Printing. Desde 2003 que é fotógrafa freelancer, tendo-se especializado em fotografia de alimentos, plantas, arquitetura e naturezas-mortas. Herdou a sua paixão pela horticultura e jardinagem da sua avó, proprietária de uma vasta horta.Com base na sua experiência, orientou um grupo de adolescentes na Chiswick House Kitchen Garden etornou-se conhecida pelos seus saborosos.
