Virginia Tangvald nasceu no mar das Caraíbas, em 1986. Cresceu no Canadá e vive, atualmente, em Paris. É filha do navegador norueguês Peter Tangvald. Estreou-se na literatura com Os Filhos do Mar Alto, um livro aclamado pela crítica e pelos leitores, galardoado com o Prix Révélation d'automne SGDL e nomeado para vários outros prémios: Grand Prix des Lectrices Elle, Prix du Roman Version Femina, Prix des Écrivains de Marine, Prix du Temps Retrouvé, Prix Jules Rimet e Prix Stanislas. Virginia Tangvald, artista multifacetada, realizou um documentário homónimo deste livro, estreado em 2024, no Festival Nouveau Cinéma de Montreal, onde recebeu o Prémio do Público TV5 para Melhor Filme Francófono. A autora está a escrever um novo romance.
