V.C. Andrews, Cleo Virginia Andrews, (6/6/1923- 19/12/1986) era pintora profissional até se dedicar à escrita a tempo inteiro. Os seus romances combinam horror gótico e saga familiar, girando em torno de segredos de família e amor proibido (envolvendo frequentemente temas de incesto consensual, na maioria das vezes entre irmãos. O mais conhecido é Herdeiros do Ódio (1979), que celebra agora o seu 35º aniversário. Os livros de V. C. Andrews venderam mais de 105 milhões de exemplares em 22 línguas.
