Vicente Segrelles (Barcelona, 1940), é sobrinho do pintor Joseph Segrelles. Iniciou a sua carreira profissional como desenhador industrial. Fez trabalhos de ilustração e capas. Cria, nos inícios dos anos 1980, para a revista Cimoc, editada pela espanhola Norma, um personagem que lhe granjeará projeção internacional: O Mercenário – que chama de imediato a atenção pela sua qualidade e particularidade: cada uma das suas vinhetas é uma pintura a óleo.
Segrelles desenvolve também El Sheriff Pat, uma banda desenhada que se insere na linha humorística (1991). Apaixonado pela ilustração, por armamento e por armaduras medievais, com obra publicada em todo o mundo e internacionalmente reconhecida, Vicente Segrelles é um dos autores mais importantes da banda desenhada espanhola e europeia do século XX. Vive nos arredores de Barcelona.
