Romancista e uma das autoras mais importantes no atual panorama literário francês, Valérie Perrin nasceu em 1967 em Remiremont, Vosges. Em 1986, saiu da Borgonha, onde cresceu, para se fixar em Paris. A Breve Vida das Flores, o primeiro romance da autora publicado em Portugal, está já traduzido em mais de 30 línguas, foi distinguido com os prémios Maison de la Presse e Prix des Lecteurs e tornou-se o livro mais vendido em Itália no ano da sua publicação. Valérie Perrin, que foi também fotógrafa de cena e cenógrafa, juntamente com o seu companheiro Claude Lelouch, vive na Normandia.
