Ulrich Bischoff (born in 1947) holds degrees in Art History, Germanic Studies, Literary Studies, Sociology, History, Philosophy, Religion, and Education from Tubingen and Berlin. He has taught various subjects at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and at the Universities of Berlin, Kiel, Hamburg, Passau, and Dresden. Since 1994, he has held the position of Director at the Gemäldegalerie Neue Meister in the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden. He has published numerous works on classical modernity and contemporary art, including Edvard Munch and Max Ernst for Taschen.
