Ulrich Bischoff (nascido em 1947) é formado em História de Arte, Germânicas, Estudos Literários, Sociologia, História, Filosofia, Religião e Educação em Tubingen e Berlim. Foi professor de diversas cadeiras na Academia das Belas Artes, em Munique e nas Universidades de Berlim, Kiel, Hamburgo, Passau e Dresden. Desde 1994 que ocupa o cargo de Director na Gemaldegalerie Neue Meister na Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden. Tem diversas obras publicadas sobre modernidade clássica e arte contemporânea, onde se incluem Edvard Munch e Max Ernst para a Taschen.
