Tyto Alba iniciou como pintor expondo em várias galerias de Barcelona. Viveu na Cidade do México, onde começou a carreira de cartoonista com Black River Together. Ilustra há vários anos artigos de opinião no El Periódico de Catalunya. É ilustrador e coautor de inúmeros livros: Un Regalo de Navidad, de Robert Louis Stevenson, La casa azul, Fellini en Roma, Balthus y el conde de Rola (uma encomenda do Museu Thyssen-Bornemisza para acompanhar uma exposição do pintor francês). Whitman é o seu mais recente trabalho, em que conta a vida do famoso poeta através do seu papel na Guerra Civil Americana.
