Tracy Chevalier nasceu em Washington D.C., mas aos 22 anos foi viver para Londres, onde reside atualmente com o marido e o filho. Tem um mestrado em Escrita Criativa pela Universidade de East Anglia e é uma autora muito acarinhada pelo público e pela crítica. O seu segundo romance, A Rapariga do Brinco de Pérola, recebeu o Barnes and Noble Discover Award, foi um estrondoso sucesso internacional e deu origem a uma versão cinematográfica nomeada para os óscares e protagonizada por Colin Firth e Scarlett Johansson.
