Tomáš Špidlík (1919-2010), jesuíta checo, dedicou a sua vida ao aprofundamento e divulgação da tradição cristã oriental.
Manteve um trabalho pastoral e diplomático junto dos cristãos que viviam nos países do Pacto de Varsóvia.
Criado Cardeal em 2003 pelo Papa João Paulo II, vivia desde 1991 no Centro Aletti, em Roma.
