Tiago Beato nasceu em Lisboa, em 1979. Licenciado em Ciências da Comunicação, iniciou a carreira jornalística em 2003, no Diário de Notícias, trabalhou na Agência Lusa, foi editor da revista oficial do Sindicato dos Jogadores Profissionais de Futebol, da QuatroQuatroDois e da Playboy Portugal, e colaborou com títulos como Visão, Evasões, Top Gear, Blue Auto, Maxmen, FHM, GQ, sapo.pt, e os jornais O Jogo e Der Tagesspiegel, este último da Alemanha.
Nos últimos anos tem vindo a focar-se na criação e desenvolvimento de projetos. Destes, destaca o blog relato.pt, criado juntamente com o jornalista Hugo Vinagre, que resultou na publicação do livro Relato, Histórias de Futebol, editado pela Saída de Emergência, em 2016.
