Telma Guimarães é formada em Letras Vernáculas e Inglês pela Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp). Foi professora de Língua Inglesa em São Paulo, Brasil, e assessora da Secretaria da Cultura do Estado de São Paulo. Recebeu da Associação Paulista de Críticos de Arte (APCA), em 1989, o Prémio de Melhor Autora de Literatura Infantil pelo livro Mago Bitu Fadolento. Atualmente dedica-se à escrita de livros infantis, juvenis e didáticos.
