Nascido em Sapporo em 1966, Takuya Asakura licenciou-se na Universidade de Tóquio. Em 2002, venceu o primeiro grande prémio do concurso literário «Este mistério é assombroso!» (This Mystery is Amazing!) com o romance Yokkakan no Kiseki (O milagre de quatro dias), que vendeu mais de 1,3 milhões de exemplares e foi adaptado ao cinema. Takuya trabalha também como tradutor.
